Argentine Tango is an elegant dance.
Gentlemen often wear suits at the milongas and ladies dress up.
In the classes, the atmosphere is more relaxed so that people do not look neglected but do not generally dress up either.
Make sure to feel comfortable in whatever you decided to wear.

Most ladies, but not all, dance Argentine Tango in milongas with high heels.
However ladies may choose to wear practice shoes (with or without high heels) for the class.
The benefit of wearing high heels in the class is that you practice in the shoes you will wear while dancing socially.
The drawback is that it may interfere with the apprenticeship of Tango posture, following skills, pivots and other steps, which are been taught in the classes.
Ultimately, it is up to you and it is strictly a matter of preference.

Argentine Tango is an elegant dance so we prefer our students not to wear jeans and sneakers. This aside, you may wear anything you feel comfortable in.

We recommend wearing smooth-leather sole shoes or dance shoes if you can, as it makes the gliding and pivoting on the dance floor much easier. Once a Tango aficionado, you may want to acquire proper Tango shoes but it is not a necessity.

It is highly recommended to pre-register for most classes, required for the introductory Course. It generally benefit all participants when we know who plan to attend as we then have more control on the class size and class level.
Another benefit of pre-registration is that it allows us to respond to specific interest for a particular class and possibly to add it to the schedule.
Do not hesitate to contact us with any request.

The introductory course is designed for complete beginners. So you do not need to have any previous dance experience in order to start learning Argentine Tango.

If you have some Argentine Tango experience, you are welcome to attend our more-advanced classes or our milongas and Vals classes.

Whatever your level (no previous experience to experienced Argentine Tango dancers) you may also take private lessons and receive tailored instruction.

In doubt as to what class you should attend, just contact us directly by calling us at ;”>951-795-3008or email us at Dance.A.Tango@gmail.com.

We do not require participants to bring a partner. However we appreciate your letting us know upfront whether or not you do have a partner.

The milongas of Buenos Aires are filled with people of all ages.
Kids of 4 or 5 years old can learn Argentine Tango.
We know personally adults in their nineties that are still dancing Argentine Tango.
If you can walk, you most likely can dance social Argentine Tango. You may not be able to accomplish the most complex figures or dance to the fastest rhythms, but well enough to have plenty of fun.
In doubt, come to the introductory course and try the first class with us.

Our approach is practically oriented. We teach you Argentine Tango always bearing in mind what you will need to dance it socially in a milonga.

  • TECHNIQUE oriented and not only step driven
  • PERSONAL ATTENTION (Even in group classes)
  • High focus on MUSICALITY
  • Provide tools to IMPROVISE (particular focus for advanced students)
  • FUN Classes (See our testimonials)
  • Prepare you to go out and dance socially

We teach you to become dancers and not only step performers.

How can we claim that “if you can walk you can dance Argentine Tango” and still talk of challenges?

In short because Argentine Tango is as simple or as complicated as you wish to make it.

As a hint, let us just say that Tango walk is not quite your regular, street walk.

Challenge 1: It is a dance
If you think that dancing is a challenge in itself, then Argentine Tango is for you. Yes, as you can see below, Argentine Tango is a challenging dance. However, it also offers the option to keep it simple while still fun. Therefore it is accessible to everyone!

Challenge 2: Tango Walk to the music
Because Argentine Tango is a walking dance, if you walk to the music, you are dancing Argentine Tango. You may find out that it is not as simple as one thinks to just do that.

Challenge 3: It is a partner dance!
Argentine Tango is a partner dance. You can choose to find the connection with your partner and create a dialog without words while dancing.
Obvioulsy to learn to communicate with your partner without words while improvising to the music is much more challenging than to just execute a pre-set series of steps with a partner who knows the sequence of them too.

Challenge 4: Argentine Tango is an INTELLECTUAL dance
If you are an engineer, a doctor or a lawyer, or if in general you like to use your brain, you will find out that Argentine Tango is not only a physical activity but a dance which recruits your INTELLECTUAL faculties as well.

If this tickles you, then, with Argentine Tango, you will keep challenging yourself for years to come.
Each step of the way is enjoyable and you decide how far you want to go on the path of the challenges of Argentine Tango.
